I WILL VIGOROUSLY DEFEND MY COPYRIGHT
All of the plans produced by SCDesign, L.L.C. are sold with a single use license unless otherwise agreed upon by contract. That means that regardless of how much input the client has in the design of a house the Copyright of that house belongs to SCDesign, L.L.C. and the client is allowed to built that structure only once. Arrangements can be made for the purchase of subsequent licenses, generally at a substantial discount.
Please know that I have and I will defend the copyright of all of my plans, artistic representations, and technical drawings. All of my plans are registered with the United Stated Copyright Office according to the 1990 Architectural Copyright Protection Act. That Act allows me to sue anyone violating my copyright for:
· Attorney’s Fees (which will be in excess of $150,000)
· All cost involved in Construction (the TOTAL value of the house)
· All PROFITS derived from the house
· Triple Damages

This is a little primer on the subject:

It will not pay to steal my plans. I watch all new construction and know most of the contractors that specialize in the this type of work, so I will probably find out about it. I also log all access to my web site and periodically cross reference email address logs with the Houston Issued Permit Index. I will probably catch it, and then it will get costly.
That being forcefully said, most of my plans are for sale. If you like one of my plans please contact me. I will generally sell a single use license of a completed plan at a discount, allowing you to modify the plan with or without my assistance. If you like aspects of my plans and want to incorporate them into a new house please contact me first. Paying a modest single use fee is much more reasonable than the minimum attorney’s fees involved in a copyright lawsuit. Believe me, I’ve been there a couple of times.
