What is Traditional Design? In the narrow sense Traditional Design refers to the home designs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Victorian in all of its flavors - Queen Anne, Italianate, Gothic - is probably the style that comes to mind most readily, but Craftsman, Prairie, and all of the Revivals of Classic Design also fit into the category. In its broadest sense Traditional Design refers to any style before the building boom of the late 1940's and the emergence of the Ranch style, master planned communities, and mass produced cookie cutter homes. Traditional Design refers to homes designed with families in mind, built for comfort and living, and are as much a statement of the owners individuality as the cut of their hair.
